Creative Learning Place

Creative Learning Place is a unique learning center which offers classes in a variety of subjects with the purpose of opening hands, hearts and minds. CLP was founded by Karen Golden, a professional storyteller, published author, recording artist, arts educator, community activist and homeschool mom. After thirty years of teaching, organizing conferences, classes, festivals and events and hosting a daily talk show on public radio,  Karen decided to put her knowledge of connecting people and ideas together at the Creative Learning Place. Each teacher is meticulously hand picked by Karen and the teachers are not only qualified to teach, they are also visionaries which bring education to the next step.

All Creative Learning Place classes take place on the second floor of the Westside Jewish Community Center:

5870 West Olympic Blvd.

Los Angeles, CA 90036

Please note, there is no elevator. There is plenty of free parking in the lot located on the backside of the WJCC assessable by a service road from S. San Vicente (Between the WJCC and Olympia Medical center)

Food

Please pack a snack for your child if they are in signed up for more than one class. Students can eat snacks and lunch in a designated food classroom or outside at the picnic pavilion with parent supervision. If your child will be eating lunch at the WJCC and you will not be joining us, please let me know so we can arrange for enough parents to supervise. Thank you! Please note, students will be asked to eat in one designated classroom not in every class room. Thank you!!!

Special building note:

The WJCC is a large complex with a pre-school, two swimming pools, senior center, gymnasium, table tennis center, auditorium, and many other multi-purpose rooms. Please supervise your child at all times when they are not in a class. Also, the WJCC houses many offices. Please refrain from loud talking or running while on the WJCC campus.  Let’s set an example of great homeschool behavior. Thank you!

Drop policy:

If you enroll you child in a class and wish to drop it within the first two sessions, you will receive a refund for the remainder of the session minus the registration fee. You must pay for classes you attend. There will be NO refunds after the second week of class except for special emergency circumstances. Please chose your classes wisely! We are a small program operating on a shoe string budget. If you commit to a class, you must pay for the entire session.

Parent Visitation

Parents are welcome to visit classes at any time. Individual teachers will have the final say as to how often they will allow parents to remain in class for the duration of the class. As home school parents we all want the time to visit with each other. This year we will have a designated snack and chat room. Please refrain from talking in the class rooms during class.
